So, are you psychic?
Some planets, placements, and signs seem to have a deeper draw towards sensing the hidden realms.

12th House Placements
Traditionally known as the ‘house of undoing’, the 12th house is a strange place indeed. It is known for being the part of the chart that emphasizes isolation, retreat, and mental health issues.
As the 12 house is behind the Rising sign (the 1st house), it is the most unknown to the conscious self. The 12th house represents the part of us that everyone else can see, but we can’t.
Issues with this house can fester for years before being brought into conscious awareness.
So what does all this have to to do with psychic skills?
Well, since you asked. The 12th house is also a place of spiritual merging, with everything, the good and the bad, each part of us, shadows and all. Often these journeys are taken alone, thrust upon us while we’re kicking and screaming, “anything but that!”
Sigh* such is the way of the 12th house.
And sometimes going through all of the unsettling (and sometimes trauma-induced) inner work of the 12th house, we emerge more psychic, spiritual, or attuned to the spirit realms.
Like an initiation, planets emphasized in the 12th house take us deep and within, face-to-face with our personal underworld. This is one path on the road to being an effective psychic.
In the turmoil of the 12th house we meet with the great expanse, the infinite, and the mysteries of the Universe. We get to question our existence. Why am I here? What does this all mean? What happens when we die?
A heavy 12th house person can indicate a life dedicated to psychic healing and spirit work. You might learn from spirit directly through the 12th house as well.
Placements here can show a penchant for meeting with the unseen and invisible. And when cultivated, can be a profound gift to others if one chooses to take that path.
Strong Neptune Placements
Oh Neptune. How I love you. Neptune is the planet of imagination, artistry, illusion, and delusion. And let’s be real, the majority of people think psychics are grifters.
But are psychics really lying to their clients? Maybe some. But most, I’d venture absolutely not. I’ve been in spiritual spaces for well over a decade and what I’ve found is most psychic mediums are just trying to channel their sensitive hearts toward collective love and healing.
What better arena than being a bridge to the Other World?
Specific Neptune Placements
Alright, so back to Neptune. Neptune is a giant planet. Its energy carries a lot of weight in the chart and when placed near the Sun, by Mercury, or in the 1st, 9th or 12th houses can hint towards psychic skills.
When Neptune is with Mercury it means that you can better interpret or convey communications from the spirit world. By the Sun, it means these abilities can come naturally to you. It might be very hard to recognize the kaleidoscopic spiritual experiences you have been having your whole life, because you just assumed others were moving the reality like this too!
You might be wonderings why I don’t have the Moon listed here?
The reason I didn’t add the Moon is not because the Moon-Neptune together don’t indicate psychic skills, its just that these celestial bodies together in the natal chart bring psychic information through with less clarity. It might manifest more erratically or as mild impressions.
Neptune is associated with the Dream world, the Moon-Neptune in the chart can indicate a psychic dreamer or the potential to develop the skills to become sharper, which is normal for most psychics anyways. Like any skill, it requires practice.
Water Element Placements
The water element is the most impressionable in the zodiac. It is liquid, fluid, and absorbing. Water is thought to hold memories and be an entrance to the Underworld or Spirit Realms.
The water signs:
- Cancer
- Scorpio
- Pisces
Are known for being absorbent of other people’s psychic energy, the water signs have innate access to spiritual energy if they choose to tune into it—and sometimes even when they don’t! The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Neptune, Venus, and Uranus, in a water sign can indicate psychic powers.
If you have one of these signs for your Rising sign then you are likely to be extra sensitive. Clairsentience, one of the ‘clairs’, French for clear as in clairvoyant, means psychic empathy or feeling the emotions of others.
The more water placements, the stronger the empathy. This doesn’t always translate to psychic skills exactly, but can show up as heightened sensitivity to your environment, mood fluctuations, and the ebb and flow of external circumstances.
Mercury-Moon and Mercury-Neptune Aspects
A strong Mercury placement, especially in a water sign, with the Moon, or Neptune, is a good sign that the psychic channels are open. Mercury is the planet of communication in your astrology chart and when paired with a these spiritual planets, it can make your intuition very sharp.
Mercury aspects with the Moon or Neptune also indicate a solid ability to convey psychic information accurately and articulately. You might be good at automatic writing, channeling entities, or working on a psychic advisor chat line.
9th House Placements
In traditional western astrology, the 9th House is the place of dreams, magic, and religion. For those willing to study, placements in this house can indicate a natural aptitude for growing spiritual gifts.
Some signs show a penchant for magic, esoteric practice, and mystical studies. Traveling for spiritual development or learning from many different disciplines, teachers, and mentors for an eclectic psychic repertoire is also likely!
