‘Ten inscriptions of the void: Their end is imbedded in their beginning and their beginning in their end’
sefer yetzirah 1:6
The Void – Challal (חלל)
The Void – Challal in Hebrew, referring to the empty space of nothingness. This is the void, the state of creation where there is absolute spaciousness, a necessary state in order for creation to unfurl.
Swirling Primordial Chaos – Tohu vBohu (תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ)
Primordial Chaos – Tohu vVohu in Hebrew, referring to a state without form. This state is sometimes likened to the void as it is a state of emptiness. But can also be interpreted as being the primeval waters of chaos or the undifferentiated state of all things. Like the number 0 which is a circle that contains nothing and everything at once.
Contraction of Light – Tzimtzum (צמצום)
The Contraction of Light in the Womb of the Universe – This is the phase of creation when God Herself drew all light within herself (ohr ein sof) in a process of contracting (tzimtzum). This is part of the mystery, that the light is hidden in the manifest Universe and simultaneously everywhere interpenetrating all that is.
The Infinite – Ein Sof (אֵין סוֹף)
The Infinite – This is the state of creation or the Divine that is without bounds. Referred to as a place of infinite light – Ohr Ein Sof, the energy that manifests into creation.

Kabbalah Studies
The Sefer Yetzirah – The Book of Creation
If you want to go deeper into Kabbalah studies that focus on creation, the origins of the Universe, consciousness, and the first stirrings of power, the web of life, astrology, and magic, I’d recommend a deep study of the sefer yetzirah.
There are many translations and interpretations of the Kabbalah text, but I highly recommend the book by Jill Hammer, Return to the Place: The Magic, Meditation, and Mystery of Sefer Yetzirah. Here is a link:

Kabbalah studies are for witches who are drawn towards mysticism, consciousness studies, and the origins of creation. These are powers that witches can touch and grapple with, study and question, and engage with, sense, explore, and journey through. It is the great Mystery of existence, the numinous, and the nature of the Divine or God Herself.
What magic does the Sefer Yetzirah Offer Us?
The sefer yetzirah, takes us through a journey of the first stirrings of the Divine in the void of primordial chaos. God Herself then ‘carves’ into space channels – Sefirot which are vessels containing the ein sof or the infinite or divine light energy.
The text takes us through the mystical meanings of all the Sefirot, Hebrew letters, elements, the magical body, and astrology. It truly is a beautiful, poetic work that brings us into the Mystery. One of my favorites for ecstatic witchcraft with a focus on mysticism and the mysteries of the Divine, creation, and consciousness.
Let’s embrace our divinity, beings of light, consciousness, and creation.
