As Faery witchcraft continues to work its magic on me, I want to share the deep kindness, love, and guidance I have experienced from the Fae. Here I will share what the Fae have taught me about traversing their realm and working their magic.

The World is a Dangerous Place

We come into this world, a dangerous middle realm, where things are not what they seem. The wonderment and joy we might have as children are quickly swept away, unconsciously or consciously, by what astrologer Carolyn Casey calls the ‘reality police.’

Something that can also be taken with our wonderment is our ability to be enchanted. If we are too rigid and attached to what we have been taught reality is, we can miss the door to faery entirely.

Faeries see right to the core of us; they know what’s in our hearts. The way into faerie, safely, is through the embodiment of the genuine vibration of who we came into this life as.

So let’s soften our gaze as we prepare to enter their realm.

Into the Faery Realm

As you step into faery witchcraft, you will quickly encounter warnings beyond warnings about working with them. From what I’ve gathered, the Fae are a wild form of earth consciousness who come from the stars. While we are different, we do have things in common with these spirit kin.

However, the Fae are much older than we are, and like the ancient plant spirits, they can help us to mature in realizing our role and potential in cultivating a loving, nourishing connection and respect for nature, the Earth, and its cycles.

These warnings are there for a reason, as it is easy to lose oneself in the matrix of glamours and strangeness that is the faerie realm. It is a place that can confuse and disorient if you aren’t properly guided through it or taught how to navigate it. Mental and other psychological issues can arise if one isn’t being discerning in their faerie realm dealings.

Some of us are blessed to have a human teacher and guide who has been through it and can safely show us the way. Others of us learn directly from the Fae and other spirits. Often, it is a combination of both.

Types of Faery

Whenever you are engaging with any kind of spirit work, it is important to know who you are meeting on the other side. While folklore gives us examples of many different types of faery, the ones I know have a particular presence.

The faeries I have encountered are tall, regal, and wise. They show up in my consciousness as a hybrid of insect, serpentine, and humanoid entities. They are typically blue-skinned and older than I can wrap my head around.

These entities are deeply connected to the ancient rocks, mountains, and the Underworld. These Fae are healers and know about plants, dreams, and magic. They seem to move around from place to place, being nomadic and connected to the summer and winter solstices.

These specific Fae have brought me into a deepening relationship with our prehistoric ancestors, the amanita muscaria mushroom mysteries, and the powers of the birch tree as an axis mundi.

Building Genuine Connections with Faerie

The Faeries I have met love milk and honey. They want sweetness. I think they like me because I have an inner sweetness that makes me very sensitive and open (this doesn’t mean I can’t be fierce when needed, like most people I have range).

I have felt safe working with them and have always had faeries reach towards me and pull me into their world. For this I am grateful.

For me, I have felt that even though Faeries can be tricksters, and they are morally ambiguous, they still appreciate us humans who have a natural sweetness and kindness about us.

In my experience, they don’t take advantage of this at all, but instead see it as a bridge to building a genuine connection. This opens the way for gifts to be exchanged between faerie and human.

To Be Enchanted

To get into the Faery realm, we need to be receptive to enchantment, to let the spell of the Otherworld work its sweet magic on us.

This reclaiming of wonderment, sweetness, and what might even be called innocence, is a legitimate way into the Fae realm.

The people I know with the easiest access to Faerie are deeply genuine, loving, and kind souls who are passionate about the Earth, justice, reciprocity, balance, harmony, and true healing.

Becoming Fae

To be brought into the ranks of Faerie is to fully embrace your wildness, but it is also a path that deepens powerful sensitivity.

Faery witchcraft amplifies the voices of all of nature. It is animistic at its roots. The more faery magic you work, the more you will start to vibrate with the resonance of the Earth. You will awaken to the hum of the Universe.

House plants will cease to be decor and will become living, breathing entities that you are in communion with. Rocks become conscious, communicating beings. To be this connected and aligned with nature helps us unfold even deeper into enchantment and sensitizes us to the needs of the more than human world.

Are you Fae-Touched?

Some of us are Fae-touched from birth, with signs like being born with a caul, or feet first, or some other indicator of difference.

Many of us can be Fae-touched, but only some will feel the drive to cultivate and understand the work of faery witchcraft. This isn’t an easy path, and it is even harder in a world where the majority of our conditioning actively fights against faery enchantment.

I have a strong sense that many of us faery witches are doing our part to re-enchant the world.
